I’m in a supermarket in Carol Stream, Chicago, standing in front of a massive aisle dedicated entirely to chips, sauces, and all kinds of salty snacks. It’s pure megalomania—typical American style, where everything is bigger, louder, and more over-the-top than anywhere else. The sheer size of the aisle makes you realize how seriously they take snack culture here.
